Work in light of Benedictine practice and values
Laurence Freeman, OSB, is a Benedictine monk and the spiritual guide and Director of the World Community for Christian Meditation, a contemporary contemplative community with its base in London and with a presence in over a hundred countries. Before entering monastic life, Laurence had experience with the United Nations, banking, and journalism. He travels widely as an international speaker and retreat leader. He is the author of many articles and books including "Jesus: The Teacher Within" and "First Sight: the Experience of Faith." He has conducted dialogues and peace initiatives such as the historic “Way of Peace” with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and is active in inter-religious dialogue with leaders of other faiths. He encourages the teaching of Christian meditation to children and students as part of the recovery of the contemplative wisdom tradition in the Church and society at large.
